My Day in the Mountain Villages

February 8, 2025

Our day started in Valldemossa, a quaint mountain village where we had breakfast at the well-known Ca’n Molinas café. I indulged in a decadent, rich, and creamy hot chocolate paired with one savory pastry and one sweet pastry, the perfect way to warm up on a chilly, rainy morning. By the time we finished, the rain had cleared, allowing us to step out and explore the cobblestone streets of the village. We wandered through the town, soaking in the charm of the stone buildings and narrow alleys, until we stumbled upon a beautiful overlook offering sweeping views of Valldemossa below. After snapping some photos, we continued our leisurely stroll, admiring the stunning streets framed by the distant mountains.

We popped into a small souvenir shop, where I picked up a postcard and two little paintings—one of Valldemossa and the other of Deia, both lovely mementos of our day. From there, we headed on to Deia, where we stopped briefly to admire the town perched high in the mountains, its stone houses nestled against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea in the distance. I took a few photos, capturing the breathtaking views, before we started our journey home. Tired and hungry from a full morning of exploring, we decided to have a late lunch to end the day, reflecting on the beauty of these two mountain towns. It was a peaceful, perfect day spent with the family I’m au pairing for, filled with lovely sights, moments, and memories.
