Cap de Formentor

At the very tip of the peninsula sits the Formentor Lighthouse, standing 210 meters above sea level. Built in 1863, it remains an active beacon for sailors today.

The beach stretches for about 1 kilometer, lined with fragrant pine and oak trees that provide natural shade. Its calm, shallow waters make it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Despite its remote feel, Playa de Formentor is easily accessible by car, boat, or even a scenic ferry ride from Port de Pollença.

A Perfect Day Combining Mountains & Beach
Driving along the winding roads of Cap de Formentor, surrounded by towering cliffs and endless sea views, felt like stepping into a postcard. I had the joy of experiencing this breathtaking part of Mallorca with the family I au pair for, and we made a full day out of it—combining adventure, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable memories.
Our journey began with a scenic drive up the mountain, navigating the sharp turns and dramatic inclines until we reached a breathtaking viewpoint. We stepped out to take photos, soaking in the sweeping vistas of the rugged coastline and deep blue waters below. One of the most unexpected and delightful surprises was encountering a group of friendly mountain goats. They wandered around the viewpoint, seemingly unbothered by the visitors, and to our amazement, we even got to pet a tiny baby goat—so small and unbelievably cute. It was one of those magical little moments that made the day even more special.
From there, we continued along the winding road to the very tip of the peninsula, where the Formentor Lighthouse stands proudly against the sky. The views from up there were nothing short of spectacular, stretching endlessly across the Mediterranean. We found a quiet spot to enjoy a picnic, taking in the fresh sea breeze and capturing more photos before starting our descent down the mountain.
As the day began to wind down, we made our final stop at Playa de Formentor—the perfect way to end our adventure. With the sun dipping low, casting golden light over the calm, clear waters, we sat on the shore, watching the sunset paint the sky in soft hues of pink and purple. One of my absolute favorite moments was skipping rocks in the sea with the little boy I au pair for. Sharing that simple, joyful moment was something I’ll always treasure.
From start to finish, it was a perfect day—filled with adventure, laughter, and special memories that I will hold onto forever.
